According to The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry 63(7), aromatherapy has been concluded as a safe and effective treatment for the management of agitation in severe dementia. Per an article published in the 2014 volume 6 Nutrient Journal, lemon balm-containing foods appear to have anti-stress effects. The Journal of Clinical Oncology 25 (6), also reported effectiveness of aromatherapy massage in the management of anxiety and depression in patients with cancer in a multicenter randomized controlled trial.
As a result of these findings and likely benefit, numerous training in the field of psychiatry and psychology are being offers to mental health professionals to broaden their knowledge and encourage the use of the intervention in treatment with their clients.
